Following the 10th multi-billion dollar natural disaster of 2011, Chartway Federal Credit Union stands ready to make the signature credit union difference by supporting its members and communities from Florida to Maine. As many times before, Chartway will be more flexible than ever for loan applicants affected by the storm that pummeled the East Coast with heavy rainfall, powerful winds and significant flooding.

“In the face of hurricane hardship, we will do whatever it takes to help those in need by refinancing existing loans to reduce payments and terms, deferring loan payments and extending leniency as much as possible,” said Chartway’s President and CEO, Ron Burniske. “We will also extend free financial check-ups and are committed to helping alleviate any financial pressures our members are facing.”

This is not the first time Chartway has made the “People Helping People” credit union difference. In April, amidst the potential U.S. government shutdown, Chartway pledged to protect their members by covering payroll for their Active Duty Members and civilian workers employed by the Department of Defense. Chartway again extended this promise in July during the debt ceiling crisis, vowing to cover payroll for those in jeopardy of not receiving a timely government paycheck.

“At a time when our economy and our people are facing unique challenges, credit unions like Chartway offer hope,” stated Burniske. “In fact, credit unions were founded on this very principle. Come hard times, sickness or uncertainty, we are proud to carry on the traditions of our founders by delivering the security and financial opportunity everyone deserves.”
